Project Manager

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the position of Project Manager will collaborate with the company’s Design Engineers and operations team to manufacture custom equipment for the food processing industry. The successful candidate will be required to manage projects from receipt of purchase order through to project close out. The position will require the Project Manager to develop and manage the scope of work, manage risk, develop a schedule, manage and report costs, manage project variations, collaborate on equipment design, liaison with clients and directly manage fabricators during equipment installations. Travel to client facilities is a requirement for the position. The successful candidate will be required to provide creative solutions to complex mechanical problems. The Project Manager must have a strong work ethic and ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a fast paced and flexible work environment.

Key Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with the Estimating and Sales teams to develop the scope of work
  • Develop schedule for design, fabrication and material sourcing
  • Liaison with vendors and the CMP purchasing team to source materials
  • Manage client communication and requested variations
  • Manage and mitigate risk to CMP
  • Lead a team of Design Engineers using Autodesk Inventor to create 3D equipment models
  • Produce practical and functional equipment designs within budget
  • Manage communication between CMP departments
  • Review 3D models and detailed shop drawings (waterjet, bending, machining, fabrication)
  • Continuous improvement in the design of standard parts and equipment
  • Efficiently work within the project timeline to produce on budget equipment
  • Assist and/or lead Junior Designers in mechanical design principles
  • Support the Shop Foreman with intended fabrication details/methods
  • Develop fluid, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control schematics
  • Create process flow diagrams, P&ID, control narratives and TP lists
  • Liaison with contacted electrical and programming resources to develop automated solutions
  • Develop installation plans, schedule manpower, tools, rentals, travel arrangements.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years experience in Project Management
  • Formal education in Project Management would be considered an asset
    • Preference will be given to individuals with PMP designation
  • Experience in machine design.
    • Preference will be given to individuals with experience in Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience reviewing 3D models and 2D detailed fabrication prints
  • Working experience of steel fabrication and welding procedures
    • Preference will be given to individuals with experience in steel fabrication or industrial food processing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create written reports and review technical specifications
  • Excellent organization skills and detail-oriented approach to design
  • Experience working as a team member and mentor
  • Valid passport and ability to travel

Salary: Compensation dependant on qualifications and experience
